NEWGALE – LOWER SOLVA – ST DAVIDS HEAD – TRANSFER TO SWANSEA
Our last day was a bit of a wash-out, it rained persistently all day and we were often in the clouds! The rain was not heavy but it was very fine and very wet for most of the day. As the group were catching the 16:50 train from Swansea we had until 14:00 for birding and that is exactly what we did.
CARDIGAN WILDLIFE AND WETLANDS CENTRE – THE GANN – DALE
Anything we did today was going to be anticlimactic and underwhelming compared to yesterday’s birding extravaganza, even the weather was poor for most of the day as we made good use of our water-proof clothing.
MARTIN’S HAVEN & SKOMER ISLAND
Well, what a fantastic day we had perfect weather, it was sunny all day a cooling breeze, as we walked through stunning scenery in breath-taking landscapes. The wild flowers, the colours and the close proximity of thousands of birds make Skomer something really special.
Llandeilo Castle and Water Meadows – Swansea Railway Station to RSPB Gwenddwrd Dinas and Haverfordwest
Today the tour started proper! as I collected my group from Swansea train station and we headed off into the hills.............
VISITS TO MARTIN'S HAVEN - MARLOES - DALE - TEIFI WETLANDS CENTRE - CARDIGAN
I was a busy birder today with brief visits to many little birdy places and a prolonged afternoon at the Wetlands centre.
This was the first day of my 2-day pre-tour recce of South Pembrokeshire in preparation for the arrival of my group on Thursday 23rd unfortunately I never made into Pembrokeshire in time for any birding as I set out late in the day from Yeovil and I stopped in Gwent for a little ‘twitch’.
TRANSFER FROM PICOS DE EUROPA TO BILBAO WITH STOPS AT UNQUERA MARSHES – ST VINCENTE DE LA BARQUERA BAY
Our final day had arrived but we had most of it out in the field as our flight was not until the early evening.
PICOS DE EUROPA - FUENTE DE – PEMBES
We had a fabulous day today despite the dreadful weather, it rained most of the day but it never stopped us seeing some spectacular species.
TRANSFER FROM HECHO VALLEY, PYRENEES TO COSGAYA HOTEL, PICOS DE EUROPA.
Before breakfast 8 of the group got up very early and made the journey to Garbadito for a second attempt to see the WALLCREEPER, they set out at 6:40am. It was a misty morning with little wind, cloud drifted down the valley. It was clear up at the rock face where only one of the group managed to see a WALLCREEPER!
SANTA CILIA AIRFIELD – MONESTERIO DE SAN JUAN DE LA PEÑA – RIO GALLEGO VALLEY – AGŪERO – MALLOS DE RIGLOS
Another bird-filled day as we visited areas with strange looking landscapes and dramatic panoramic scenery…….
